When it comes to food, I try to stick to my “don’t knock it until you try it” philosophy…but when it comes to Chinese “virgin eggs,” I think I’ll make an exception. Here’s why.

These eggs are boiled in the urine of young boys. In one Chinese city, this dish is considered a delicacy.

For hundreds of years, the people of Dongyang have enjoyed their favorite springtime snack, tong zi dan…which roughly translates to “boy egg.”

The cooking process involves boiling the eggs in urine, cracking them, and then placing them back into the urine pot to absorb as much flavor as possible.

How do they collect the pee? Glad you asked! Buckets are set outside of elementary school classrooms and boys are encouraged to discharge into them between classes. The buckets are then collected by local restaurants.

The locals claim that tong zi dan is beneficial to one’s health, but doctors aren’t so sure. There’s a reason why our bodies get rid of urine, after all.

Sylvester Mwendwa and Elijah Kimani have agreed to enter into a polyandry marriage contract with Joyce Wambui. Polyandry is a form of polygamy whereby a woman takes two or more husbands at the same time.

Wambui who is in her late twenties, is a widow and mother to twins. She had affairs with both men for four years. When the two men found out, the woman refused to leave either of them, leading to a contractual agreement between the three.

Abdhallah Abdulrahman, a local police officer attempted to make peace between the trio.

“I heard people fighting and went to check, but I was surprised to see two men fighting over a woman who is said to be a widow and a mother of twins. We discussed everything, and they agreed that even if the woman were to fall pregnant they will raise the child as their own since they have been taking care of the woman’s children together.”

Kenya’s NTV station published an excerpt of the contract. It states: “We have agreed that from today we will not threaten or have jealous feelings because of our wife, who says she’s not ready to let go of any of us. Each one will respect the day set aside for him. We agree to love each other and live peacefully. No one has forced us to make this agreement.”

Mdendwa told BBC the agreement was a logical conclusion as he and Kimani had been at odds over Wambui.

“It could have been very dangerous if the other man would have come to her house and caught me,” he said. “So our agreement is good as it sets boundaries and helps us keep peace. She is like the central referee. She can say whether she wants me or my colleague.”

ORLANDO, Florida – A 22-year-old man suspected of burglarizing homes in Florida was killed and partially eaten by an 11-foot (3.4 meters) alligator after he waded into a lake, apparently to avoid detection by law enforcement officers pursuing him, police said on Tuesday.

An autopsy on the man, Matthew Riggins of Palm Bay, determined that he drowned in November after an apparent alligator attack. A necropsy on the alligator revealed parts of the man’s body in the reptile’s stomach, according to a report released this week by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies chased Riggins and another suspect with dogs and a helicopter on Nov. 13 after residents in the Barefoot Bay community reported two men walking behind houses, authorities said.

No suspects were caught that night. Riggins was reported missing by his family when he did not return home, according to the sheriff’s report. His body was found 10 days later floating in a lake, with an aggressive gator standing guard, sheriff’s Major Tod Goodyear said.

“I believe he was hiding,” Goodyear said of how Riggins ended up in the lake. “With the dogs out there, it’s not a bad idea to go into the water.”

Goodyear said Riggins had told his girlfriend by telephone that he would be burglarizing homes the evening of Nov. 13 and later told her he was being chased by deputies. Reuters

Curious diners at a seafood restaurant in Hangzhou were recently spotted crowding around to watch as a young woman hand-fed crab to a salivating gentleman. As it turns out, he bought her “crab-peeling services” on the internet for 260RMB.

The woman reportedly offers her services on Taobao and charges 10RMB to peel each crab with an extra 5RMB if you want to be fed. This particular diner ordered 20 crabs in total and got a little discount because he ordered the “King Meal”.

The hostess says she quit her previous job as a flight attendant on a domestic airline to pursue the freedoms of part-time work. Despite her hands turning red after peeling numerous crabs, she smiled all the way through it and seemed to appreciate the publicity.

Honestly, who could think of a better way to spend the equivalent of £26/40USD/$56AUD?

These men wanted her to feed them too, but she turned them down. It seems she is very devoted to her work.

At eleven years old, most American kids are finishing 5th grade and nervously anticipating middle school.

Eleven-year-old Tanishq Abraham just earned three associate degrees, an admirable accomplishment for anyone, let alone a pre-teen.

A native of Sacramento, California, Tanishq crossed the commencement stage at American River College on Wednesday to accept degrees in math, science, and language studies.

He told NBC affiliate KCRA that he wasn’t very nervous when he started taking courses at ARC, so graduating college wasn’t “much of a big thing.” On his Twitter account, he tweeted “4 yrs later-3 college degrees-Vry HAPPY.”

His mother, who put her own PhD studies on hold to homeschool Tanishq said that “even in Kindergarten, he was a few years ahead” and added “we just went from there,” as NBC Bay Area reported.

Tanishq has been a member of Mensa International, an association for people who have scored in the top two percent on an IQ test, since he was four.

When he was seven he began taking classes at ARC, which enabled him to finish his college degrees just one year after graduating from high school.

Although he never got his hair officially measured and acknowledged by the Guinness Book of Records, Vietnamese herbalist Tran Van Hay was known as the man with the longest hair in the world.

According to his wife, Tran hadn’t gotten a haircut in over 50 years, after getting seriously sick after cutting his hair, when he was 25 years old. And, in half a century, he only washed it a few times, the last time being 11 years ago.

Tran Van Hay died of natural causes, at the age of 79, at his home in Kien Giang province, after dedicating his life to curing people, for free. A 116-year-old Arkansas woman who became the world’s oldest living person known to record keepers last week died Tuesday, five days after claiming her title.

Gertrude Weaver, 116, became the world’s oldest person following the death of 117-year-old Misao Okawa in Japan last Wednesday, according to Guinness World Records. Weaver died on Monday in Camden, Arkansas, of complications related to pneumonia, The Los Angeles Times reports. She was 116 years and 276 days old.

Staff at Weaver’s nursing home were preparing to celebrate Weaver’s 117th birthday in July. The centenarian had told staff she wanted President Barack Obama to attend as she had voted for him twice, the Associated Press reports.

In 2013, Okawa, from Osaka, Japan, was declared the world’s oldest living person by the Guinness Book of World Records. Last month, the world’s press covered Okawa’s 117th birthday, during which she said her long life had “seemed rather short.” She died of heart failure.

Weaver, the daughter of sharecroppers, was born on July 4, 1898 in Texarkana, Arkansas. She married in 1915 and had four children with her husband before he died in 1969. Her only surviving son, Joe, is 94 years old. Weaver’s secrets to longevity were using a lot of moisturizer, treating people kindly, loving her neighbors and eating home cooking, not fast food, according to Camden Mayor Marie Trisollini.

When she was named the world’s oldest woman by Guinness on April 1, Weaver celebrated by getting a pink manicure and taking questions from reporters in her nursing home.

Guinness issued a statement on Tuesday saying they were saddened to hear of Weaver’s passing and are “currently investigating and verifying a potential successors for the oldest woman living title and will announce the new title holder in due course.”

The Los Angeles Times reported that the oldest person in the world is now believed to be 115-year-old Jeralean Talley, who lives in the Detroit suburb of Inkster, Michigan.
